The "First Soak" (Crucial Step)

Before you use your towel for the first time, you should soak it in cold water for 12–24 hours.

• Why: This allows the long cotton fibers to "bloom" (expand), which maximizes the towel's absorbency right from the start.

• How: Submerge it in a bathtub or a clean bucket of cold water. Afterward, wring it out gently and let it air dry.

2. Washing Instructions

Once "seasoned" by the initial soak, follow these rules for regular laundering:

• Temperature: Use cold or warm water (max 40°C/105°F). Hot water can cause the natural fibers to shrink and become brittle.

• Cycle: Use a gentle or delicate cycle.

• Detergent: Use a small amount of mild detergent. Avoid "heavy duty" formulas.

• What to avoid: * NO Fabric Softeners: These coat the fibers with a waxy residue that actually repels water, making your towel less absorbent.

• NO Bleach: Harsh chemicals break down the organic cotton fibers over time.

3. Drying Tips

Turkish towels dry much faster than regular towels, making them energy-efficient.

• Air Dry (Preferred): Hanging them on a line or drying rack is the best way to maintain their integrity and softness.

• Tumble Dry (Optional): If you must use a dryer, use a low heat setting. Remove them while they are still slightly damp to prevent over-drying, which can make the cotton feel stiff.

• Give it a Shake: A quick snap or shake before hanging or folding helps fluff the fibers.

4. Special Care & Maintenance

• The Tassels: Before the first wash, check the hand-tied fringe. If any knots look loose, give them a quick pull to tighten them so they don't unravel in the machine.

• Vinegar & Baking Soda: If your towels ever feel "crunchy" or lose absorbency, run a wash with 1 cup of white vinegar (no detergent). This strips away mineral buildup and soap residue.

• Pulled Threads: Because they are flat-woven, a snag can happen. Simply snip the pulled loop off with scissors; the weave is tight enough that it won't unravel.
